As its first-ever summer course, ON MEDIATION (AGI, University of Barcelona) presents EUTOPÍAS, a theoretical-practical course exploring the relationships between contemporary art and utopia. Based on experiential research, EUTOPÍAS takes place over four days of living together in the Nectar farmhouse. The programme is aimed at artists, art historians, curators, and other cultural workers.

EUTOPIAS
In the book which coined the term “utopia”, Thomas More proposed a double etymology for a word that can be read in the sense of ou-topos (no place) and as eu-topos (good place). The meaning of the utopian has always moved between these two opposing poles of the impossible and the desirable. Through a historical account made up of various case studies, the EUTOPÍAS course will explore the meaning of this dichotomy within art, focusing on production since the 1990s. Using the utopian as a watchtower from which to observe the world in a critical way, we will see how utopia functions as a theoretical tool for better understanding our societies.

The theoretical sessions in the mornings are complemented by practical workshops in the afternoon, given by artists and cultural managers. These will reflect on the forms of bringing the concepts “down to earth” in one’s own work. The group will investigate these questions in a place that is itself utopian. All the sessions will take place in the Nectar farmhouse, a self-sufficient rural co-working and co-living space located in the Pre-Pyrenees. In the heart of the Les Guilleries natural park, this zone is characterised by surroundings of woods, escarpments, lakes, and mountains. The subject matter and the natural environment complement each other as a mental and physical space from which to ponder other forms of living together in (an)other possible world(s). At the end of each day, a short cycle of utopian cinema will be screened.

SIMULACRUM (c)*starts to kill in the name of the right of ‘the normal people’ to live peacefully and in the name of the economic solvency of the system ::: El Gabinete de Crisis se enfrentó a un escenario crítico: ¿Debíamos desconectar a SIMULACRUM (c)? ¿Debíamos aceptar esta forma de gobernanza necropolítica en favor de los intereses de la mayoría que se ajusta a la ley? ¿Estábamos dispuestos a pasar por otra crisis económica, al prescindir de sus capacidades de gestión? ¿Teníamos derecho a desconectar a SIMULACRUM (c), una vez que comenzaba a dar signos de conciencia e inteligencia (artificial)? ¿Había nacido una nueva forma de vida? ¿Estábamos respondiendo al asesinato con otro modo de asesinato? ¿Podíamos / debíamos hackear su sistema? ¿Puede ser la “idiotez” o el comportamiento impredecibles, la única posibilidad de resistencia, ante los espacios de control? ¿Debíamos aprender a convivir con SIMULACRUM (c)? ¿Cómo integramos estas nuevas “especies” en nuestros ecosistemas y nuestros marcos de cohabitación? Si aprende de nuestros comportamientos ¿podíamos enseñarle a cuidarnos? ¿Podría SIMULACRUM (c) integrar en sus protocolos otras prácticas, como el deseo o el placer, más allá de la funcionalidad y la eficiencia? ¿Debíamos delegar en la tecnología todavía más competencias, como la reproducción, para desafiar la normatividad imperante? ¿Es adecuada la dicotomía “nosotros” (humaidad) / “ello” (SIMULACRUM (c))? / The Crisis Cabinet faced a critical scenario:
Should we disconnect SIMULACRUM (c)? Should ‘we’ accept this way of necropolitical governance in the interest of the majority that followed the law? Were ‘we’ ready to go through another economic crisis, once ‘we’ dispense with its management abilities? Did ‘we’ have the right to disconnect SIMULACRUM (c), after it started to show signs of awareness and (artificial) intelligence? Was a new way of life born? Were ‘we’ answering to murder with more murder? Could / Should ‘we’ hack its system? Can ‘idiocy’ or other ways of unpredictable behaviours be the only possible way of resistance, in spaces of control? Should ‘we’ learn to get along and live together with SIMULACRUM (c)? How do ‘we’ integrate these new ‘species’ in our ecosystems and our spaces of cohabitation? If it learns from our behaviours, could ‘we’ teach it to take care of ‘us’? Could SIMULACRUM (c) integrate in its protocols other practices, such as desire or pleasure, beyond functionality and efficiency? Should ‘we’ delegate in technology even more competences, such as reproduction, in order to challenge the dominant normativity? Is it adequate the dichotomy ‘us’ (humanity) / ‘It (SIMULACRUM (c))’? ::: ... 151120 - V GABINETE DE CRISIS DE FICCIONES POLÍTICAS - "EL MUSEO ES UNA ESCUELA"

Corre el año 2050, el planeta vive una situación de emergencia climática y los diferentes organismos internacionales buscan soluciones para rebajar en la medida de lo posible el impacto de la actividad humana sobre el planeta. En su último informe, la ONU sentencia que el modelo cultural asentado en el museo y el centro de arte es del todo insostenible debido a la alta cantidad de recursos ecológicos, materiales y energéticos necesarios para su mantenimiento. Dada la situación de emergencia, el informe decreta el cierre de todos los museos y los centros de arte en un plazo de 12 meses.

Se convoca una serie de Gabinetes de crisis (de ficciones políticas) para afrontar la situación y estudiar una serie de medidas que tomar dentro de dicho plazo. Dada la fragilidad de mu-chos de los contenidos de dichas instituciones, el primero de los Gabinetes de Crisis se denominará “El museo es una escuela”, (tomando prestado el título de la obra de Luis Camnitzer). Este gabinete de crisis transformará los museos y los centros de arte en “escuelas” para aprender, testar, ensayar, analizar, producir, post-producir, etc.

El museo es una escuela: ejercicios colectivos de ficción política para una crítica institucional transformadora

¿Cómo reconfigurar la institución artística a partir de las prácticas pedagógicas transformadoras que la habitan?

Una co-producción de: Artasiak, CA2M, Fundación Telefónica, MACBA, Matadero Madrid, Las Lindes, Pedagogías Invisibles, Tabakalera Donostia y Transductores. Con una metodología de: [Inter]sección / Gabinete de Crisis de Ficciones Políticas. Con un agradecimiento especial a Luis Camnitzer.

El museo es una escuela es el título de un seminario que se desarrollará en cinco sesiones para repensar la relación de las instituciones culturales y las prácticas pedagógicas críticas / transforma-doras. Cada sesión dará comienzo con un Gabinete de crisis de ficciones políticas y proseguirá con un grupo de trabajo y discusión en torno al tema El Museo es una escuela. A través de estos encuentros interinstitucionales, que tendrán lugar a lo largo del curso lectivo 2015/2016, una serie de instituciones artísticas y de colectivos pedagógicos se reunirán en torno a los siguientes objetivos:

1) Ampliar el radio de reflexión sobre políticas institucionales y educación a través de un ejercicio de ficción política radical
2) Poner en común objetivos, metodologías de trabajo, proyectos, urgencias y retos
3) Potenciar la creación de una comunidad emocional entre estos agentes e instituciones participantes. Un espacio de cuidados a través del cual se puedan establecer vínculos de colaboración.
4) Definir estrategias de trabajo entre colectivos e instituciones con el fin de transformar efectiva-mente las instituciones artísticas que habitamos y nos habitan.

La primera sesión tendrá lugar el viernes 20 de noviembre de 2015, en Matadero Madrid (Nave 16. En el contexto de la exposición Ni arte ni educación. Paseo de la Chopera, 14. Madrid). Expertos invitados: Santiago Eraso y Emilio Luque.

El Gobierno español se plantea el siguiente objetivo: alcanzar la independencia energética del país en el año 2020, coincidiendo con el Proyecto Europa 2020. En el contexto de profundas y discontinuas transformaciones que el sector de la energía viene sufriendo durante los últimos años, este escenario plantea nuevos retos para las ciudades, el paisaje, los modelos de producción, las pautas de consumo, los marcos legales, las tipologías arquitectónicas, los usos y ritos domésticos, etc. Se precisa de una estrategia para, por una parte, optimizar las infraestructuras existentes y, por otra, desarrollar un nuevo tejido de producción de energía a gran escala, de acuerdo a criterios de máxima eficacia. Se hace imprescindible plantear la intervención de todas las instituciones y las organizaciones ciudadanas competentes en el campo de la energía. Ante las nuevas circunstancias, se convoca a un Gabinete de Crisis para estudiar la redefinición de un nuevo marco energético / The Spanish Government raised the following objective: achieving the energy independence of the country in 2020, coinciding with the Project Europe 2020. In a context of deep and discontinuous changes that the energy sector has suffered in recent years, this scenario poses new challenges for cities, the landscape, the patterns of production and consumption, the legal frameworks, the architectural typologies, the uses and domestic rituals, etc. A strategy is required to, on one hand, optimize the existing infrastructures. And, on the other hand, to develop a new large scale energy production fabric, according to criteria of maximum efficiency.
